The most heavily affected watershed areas are those of Anilao and Biren-Malbasag rivers to the west, and the Naliwatan, Marabong Barogo, Malitbog and Daguitan rivers to the east.

The sweeping flood waters came from the tributaries of Anilao and Biren-Malbasag Rivers which converged and coincided with the high tide of Ormoc Bay.
