The Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) warmly welcomes Usec. Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza as its new Executive Director.
Under his leadership, PhilFIDA looks forward to innovative solutions, stronger collaborations, and continued progress toward uplifting the Philippine natural fiber sector.
Days after his appointment, Atienza convened the industry stakeholders on January 17, 2025, to discuss plans and initiatives for advancing the Philippine natural fiber industry.
The meeting provided a collaborative platform for stakeholders to formulate resolutions addressing the challenges within the sector. Through insightful discussions and the exchange of expertise, stakeholders identified practical strategies to tackle key issues in production, sustainability, and market opportunities.
Key participants of the meeting included representatives from Manila Hemp Trading Co., Albay Agro-Industrial Development Corporation (ALINDECO), Specialty Pulp Manufacturing, Inc. (SPMI), Chingbee Trading Corporation, TAG Fibers, Association of Abaca Pulp Manufacturers Inc. (AAPMI), SCTan Exports Corporation, Fibers Trading Inc. (FTI), Glatfelter, TYC Trading and Manufacturing Phils., and Manila Cordage Company.
The outcome of this meeting is expected to contribute to the sustainable growth and development of the abaca industry in the Philippines, strengthening its role as a vital component of the country’s agricultural economy.
